Meaning of Accounting
It’s an art of recording, classifying and
summarizing transactions and events in monetary term. It is also called
Language of Business. It also analyses and interprets the financial transaction
and events.
As per American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants ( year 1961), “ accounting is the art of recording,
classifying and summarizing in a significant manner and in terms of money,
transactions and events which are, in art at least, of a financial character
and interpreting the result thereof”. As per American Accounting Association
(year 1966), “the process of identifying, measuring and communicating economic
information to permit informed judgments and decisions by the users of
accounting”.
